Getting Here

The main car park is located at OS ref SK335377 or SatNav Postcode DE22 4AA, off the A38/A52 Markeaton Island Roundabout.





The Mundy Play Centre car park is on Markeaton Lane DE22 4NH.

The 'What 3 Words' location for our walled garden entrance is:     they.spoil.librarian
Normal parking charges apply to all events.
The Trent Barton “The Allestree” Blue or Green busses from Albert Street, Derby City Centre, stops alongside the Mundy Play Centre. The same bus may be caught to get back into town.

The Park
The park covers 207 acres and consists of open grass land, small wooded areas, secluded areas, a lake and brooks
There are areas of the park that cater for families, sports and interests.

The Mundy Play Centre
The recently refurbished play area has lots to offer families with children of all ages catered for.
During the summer months the extremely popular paddling pool is open. Please check the Council web site for exact opening hours www.derby.gov.uk/markeatonpark

There are many of the usual play activities including crazy golf, climbing frames, pirate ship, swings etc. Donkey rides, electric cars, and bouncy castles

Next to the play area is a large grassed area for picnic or games
​Canoes can be hired for fun on the boating lake
The Craft Village           
Toilets and refreshments available in this area.
Here you can visit many independent craft outlets from handmade chocolates to upcycled accessories.

Children and adults can get creative in The Paint a Pot Studio

The Orangery Café offers drinks and light meals and the chance to rest before exploring the rest of the park. There is also a Community Room and visitor centre. Click Here for future events in the community room

The Walled Garden
 
The Walled Garden including the beautiful bothy is a fantastic feature of the park and was taken over by the Friends of Markeaton Park with its grand opening in August 2015. For more information see our dedicated Walled Garden Page.

Sports On the Park
 
Over by the main car park the new hard surfaces tennis courts are situated.
 
You can play a nine-hole pitch and putt or foot golf.
 
There is a 5 km Park Run held every Saturday morning at 9.00 am. This is free to enter. For further details, go to www.parkrun.org.uk/markeaton

There is also a 2 km  Junior Parkrun  held every Sunday morning at 9.00 am.  Junior parkruns are completely free, and for 4 - 14 year olds.

There are several football pitches and a cricket pitch.
 
The lake offers the facilities for fishing with several platforms for disabled fishermen. The lake and the fishing are maintained by the Earl of Harrington Fishing Club, for further information contact them on www.theearlofharringtonsac.co.uk.

You can also hire rowing boats and pedalos for fun on the water.

Model boat enthusiasts use the Mundy Play Centre boating pool to “float their boats”.
 




Adjacent to the Play Centre is a skateboard ramp which is suitable for BMX bikes and scooters as well as skateboards.
