Life in Our Water
When I was small the canoe lake at the Mundy play centre was a paddling pool but due to an outbreak of polio it was drained. We then went to paddle in the brooks where trout would swim in-between our legs and water voles were a common site along the banks. We would turn over large stones and find white clawed crayfish which we still have but they are now on the endangered species list so if you do spot one please leave it in the brook.
On top of the water you can see water boatman and skaters.

Life in the water is varied and you may find bullhead fish, minnows. Water snails, pea mussels, river limpets and much more.
Larger fish can be found in the lake including the pike with its horrid teeth.
We have amphibians as well. Toads, frogs and if you are lucky you may spot a great crested newt.
