Welcome to Markeaton Park

Friends of Markeaton Park are a registered charity who provide educational activities, events and manage the walled garden. Maintenance and improvement of the historic walled garden provides volunteering opportunities for the local community. The walled garden is open to the public on weekends for their enjoyment, visitors can be assured of a warm friendly welcome.

The Walled Garden is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays 10am - 12pm and Wednesdays 1pm-3pm for volunteers and visitors.  We are also selling our own grown fresh vegetables and fruit during these hours to visitors to the Garden.

"Walled gardens are the most magical locations, rooted in tradition they form an essential part of our British gardening history. I am so saddened when these amazing locations become semi derelict, overgrown or abandoned. Therefore I am delighted that the Friends of Markeaton Park have had the vision and determination to reignite this amazing place and with their enthusiasm, commitment and passion bring this garden back to life once more. I feel very proud to act as their patron and thrilled that this location will again be used and enjoyed by so many members of the community and appreciated immensely by all those who take time to visit this idyllic spot."
